Year 5/6 trip to Birmingham museum

Year 5/6 had a fantastic trip to Birmingham museum and art gallery on Tuesday April 4th. They started with an Anglo-Saxon art workshop and then went on to explore the galleries in the museum, finishing with the Staffordshire Hoard. It was a really interesting day and the teachers and parent helpers were impressed with how inquisitive and involved the children were. They were a credit to our school as usual.

Gardening Club Spring flowers

Every child in school has had the opportunity to participate in Gardening Club, run by one of our school governors, Mrs Randall. Most Tuesdays , a group of children from each class works with Mrs Randall to plant, water and care for our outdoor environment. Here are some of their Spring flowers blossoming in the tyres and on the fence. The children all love to work with Mrs Randall and they are very excited when their plants start to flourish. Look out for some potatoes later this year!

Tag Rugby - Alcester Tournament

Well done to our Year 5 and 6 pupils who took part in the Alcester Rugby Tournament on Sunday 9th October.

We had a slow start but improved with each match and managed to score a few trys. Unfortunately, we didn't progress to the final stages.

A big well done to Yasmine who was chosen to be part of the 'All Stars' team,  she has the honour of playing at Worcester Warriors later this term.

Thank you to all parents who stayed and supported the team.

In2Cultures Showcase Concert

The Great Alne School choir performed brilliantly at the In2Cultures Youth Showcase concert at the Stratford Artshouse on Thursday evening. They sang three songs beautifully with lovely smiles on their faces and showed amazing confidence performing to a large audience in a different venue. The children enjoyed watching other schools and groups performing and behaved extremely well all evening. Thank you to parents for supporting the concert.

6-A-Side Football Tournaments

Six of our Year 6 boys took part in the Stratford District Primary School 6-a-side football tournaments this afternoon.  We played three matches against Welford, Bishopton and Henley and although we didn't win any of our matches the boys all played really well, especially in defence.

Thank you to those parents who helped out with transport, team tactics and for staying to support the team.

Local Kwik Cricket Tournament

Eight of our Year 6 pupils took part in a local Kwik Cricket Tournament on Thursday 26th May.  The children were a credit to our school.

We played 4 matches altogether. Our first against St Nicholas was a loss to us. We won our second game against Mappleborough Green. Our third game against Tanworth was unfortunately a loss for us. We won our final match against Dunnington.

All pupils played really well, their fielding was excellent and we managed to hit a few sixes.

Thank you to the parents for helping with transport and staying to support the team.

Stratford Town Football Club Schools Tournament

Our Year 6 football team played several magnificent matches in a Tournament on Friday 20th May at Stratford Town Football Club.

There were 12 schools in the tournament, split into 3 groups.

Our first and second matches against Henley and Wellesbourne ended with a 0-0 draws. The boys defended really well and worked together tightly as a team.

Our final match in the group stages was against Thomas Jolyffe, we started well, leading by one goal (scored by Callum) but unfortunately they came back fighting and the game finished 3-1 to Thomas Jolyffe.

We made it through to the quarter finals, finishing as one of the best third place group finishers (7th or 8th overall). Unfortunately, we were paired with Thomas Jolyffe again and they went on to beat us with a final score of 2-0.

Thank you to the boys who represented themselves and our school really well. Thank you to parents who helped with transport and stayed to support the team.
