Great Alne Primary School

Music Lessons

As a musician myself, I do not need any persuading about the benefits of music for everyone.

Many of my colleagues here share that belief. Music has given me an extra dimension in life and I will forever be grateful to my parents for starting me on that path.

At Great Alne Primary School we already offer a range of peripatetic music lessons including clarinet, drums, flute, guitar, piano, ukulele and violin. As of Easter 2024 every child in school will receive regular piano lessons in our new Piano Library - a suite of eight full size pianos, fully weighted, with facilities to teach groups of 8 at a time.

Wanting to build a musical heritage into a school is one thing, but in a school with as rich a heritage as Great Alne is quite another. 54% of our children receive 1:1 tuition on the instruments above. The choir also regularly take part in high-profile events; the most recent of which was Young Voices. An incredible evening for children, their families and the staff who coordinated and attended: Mrs Brereton, Mrs Moore and Mrs Winter.

Our Christmas, Easter and Summer shows are utter gems as well. The atmosphere generated from such earnest performances is phenomenal. The Great Alne performing ‘vibe’ is very much alive and kicking!

Take a look at our gallery for some examples of the wonderful enrichment opportunities that go on here.

If you are interested in your child taking music lessons, please speak to Mr Gavin in the school office in the first instance. He will point you in the right direction.
