Our learning is cross curricular and is linked to our termly topic.
Our topic for the Autumn Term is..
Towers, Turrets, Dragons and Dungeons
During the first half term we will be learning about different types of castles and how they were used for defence and attack. Our focus will change in the second half term to explore the wonderful world of dragons!
English: Most of our learning is cross-curricular. Our English lessons are often based around a book related to our topic. This half term we will be focusing on a book called ''Rapunzel' by Bethan Woolvin which is slightly different to the original tale. We will explore other versions of this tale and compare them. During the second half term, our texts will be 'Tell me a dragon' by Jackie Morris and 'The Egg Box Dragon' Maths: We use concrete resources, such a cubes, Numicon and counters to help us to develop strong foundations in maths before moving on to more abstract concepts. Our focus this term will be place value, addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Topic: Our science lessons link to our topic, so we will be looking at materials that are used to build castles. We will also be looking at which material would be the best for: the jester's tights, to mop up the king's ale, to blackout the castle windows etc. Please see our Curriculum letter for more detail on this exciting topic. |
