We are a mixed year 5 and 6 class
Autumn Term 2021
Our topic: 'Adventures in America'
English: Most of our English work this term will be based on our topic, with a focus on stories about journeys to and around America. The pupils will also be researching North American wildlife and composing their own poetry. We will continue to use the 'Talk for Writing' process this term to help pupils develop their writing skills in a range of fiction and non-fiction text types.
Maths: Number work will focus on: place value; using the four operations; developing efficient arithmetic skills and improving accurate recall of number facts. Reasoning & problem solving using number, shape, space and measures will be ongoing this term.
Science: Earth and Space; Evolution, inheritance and adaptation
Geography: Using maps; North America, with a focus on Canada
Computing: Using technology safely, respectfully and responsibly; using search technologies effectively and be discerning in evaluating digital content
RE: Is it better to express your religion in arts and architecture or in charity and generosity?
Art: Street Art
French: Alphabet; places & directions; months & seasons
Music: Listening and composing; exploring rounds; singing and performing; exploring lyrics and melody; rehearsing for and performing Christmas concert
PE: Tennis, rugby, gymnastics and dance
